"Whit, now I'm telling you soon it will be your turn to be in one of Grandma Lu's stories. She might even put it in a book. I've known her to do that, you know. I think you have been in some of her stories when you were little. When you really little you and I got new cloaks for Christmas. Mom took your picture and you didn't have any shoes on."
"Sure enough, Grandma Lu saw an opportunity to write a story. It was about a little girl that didn't have any shoes and Santa brought you some. See how she does stuff? I think you call it an imagination. If that's right, she has a bunch. One time you wore a prairie dress; we both did. You loved yours. It was yellow and mine was pink. I hated the bonnet though."
"Anyway I'm telling you now that you are getting older you will be asked to have more photo shoots. They will dress you up and you just never know what kind of story Grandma Lu will make up. It's fun, so make her day and always smile or look sad, or smear dirt on your face. Whatever she wants. It always does seem to turn out okay."
It's our job to make old people happy. I learned that a long time ago from Grandma B's old dog, Stashia. She was my best friend for a long time. I used to tell her secrets and we had all kinds of adventures together. I miss her, but she left us lots of memories that Grandma Lu put down in her stories. When we get bigger we will be able to read them. Maybe when we have little kids we can show them the pictures and read the stories to them. What a kick that will be."
"See here comes the cameras. It's the last day of school. Next year you will be in Kindergarten. Now we have the whole summer to play. Quick pose for them and then we can get out of here!"
And that's just what they did! Have a great summer you two.
Love,
Grandma Lu
